Simon’s 1st Birthday Party

Wow, I can’t believe it. My baby is one. Does that make him a toddler now? He sure seems like a toddler. Running around, throwing tantrums, and starting to speak his mind. I think we got robbed of a few baby months, honestly. But he is the coolest kid I know. He loves listening to music and dancing. Any kind of music is worthy of busting a move to him – even the hymns at church or the worker whistling outside our window. He is a big eater like his papa. He will snarf down any fruit put in front of him. My cutting skills can’t keep up with the pace in which he eats. He has the best belly laugh and loves hiding and playing peekaboo. He is friendlier than I will ever be and people can’t help but to smile at him. He thinks he is being helpful by picking anything off the ground and giving it to me or anyone, even a stranger. The looks on people’s faces when he gives them a random object and so adamantly suggests they have it cracks me up. I adore his scrunchy face, wet kisses, and loving hugs. It’s been an absolutely blast being his mother this year. I’m honored I get to do it again and again for all the years to come.

Anyway… we had a simple birthday party at our house with some of Simon’s favorite people.

I was surprised he wasn’t going after his cake. I think he was weirded out by all the attention. There were even blueberries on it!

Everyone was so cute with the gifts they gave him.
