Salt Flats

We had different scenery than most memorial day barbecues this year. In the morning we met the Hill’s up a canyon to hike to Lake Blanche. We didn’t even get half way before we were stopped by a group of people who told us there was a bear 20 meters ahead. After much deliberation we decided to just head back down and not risk getting mauled by a bear haha. So somehow having a barbecue at the Salt Flats became our plan B.

Dave and I got this small, portable grill for Christmas, which is perfect for times like this. Joe picked up some salt from the ground and seasoned the meat with it!
We spend a lot of time sitting around and chatting with the Hill’s in either one of our living rooms. It was fun to have a complete change of scenery.  Eating a lot of good foods as always. Can you guess what I was just eating? I hope we never stop doing this pose for pictures. It’s the only time we get to practice. Haha they got preeeetty close. We realized we have known each other for two and a half years now. Seems like just yesterday we started hanging out, but also like I’ve known her my whole life.

Right before we ran out there to go streaking. Not a joke… When you get so far away you look like tiny ants;) Next time we go, we will definitely bring a source of shade and towels to wipe off all the salt!
