I can’t believe I’m putting a post on here about an African safari. I’ve always thought it sounded like a way cool thing to do, but never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I would actually do one.
Also, I didn’t think that it would be rainy in South Africa.. they are in a HUGE drought! Like they have a countrywide, “if it’s yellow, let it mellow” rule. But it sure did rain on us and I did not pack appropriately for a rainy safari. There was wind, water and mud splashing up on us, but we still had a good time. We even asked a guide if he could take us back out after our safari was over and they fed us food. I’m super glad we did because we got to see hippos and rhinos the second time.
First, we saw some lions! It was the strangest feeling seeing them without a cage. Our guide said it is the first time a lot of these animals have seen rain!
It’s so funny seeing giraffes run. I thought it was cool that they were hanging out with the zebras.
We were pretty close to this rhino and our guide said, “Rhinos’ eyesight is so bad, I don’t think he can see us yet.” Weird, huh? He could definitely hear us though, and if we weren’t down wind he could probably smell us too.
