My Missionary Girlfriend

A few weeks ago I took some pre-mission pictures for Lexi and, boy, isn’t she the cutest little missionary you have ever seen? We were both happy with how the pictures turned out and I gotta say I think they are my best work yet. I know I am not much of a photographer and still have a lot to learn, but I am finally starting to get a hang of this camera thing.

It’s been such a cool experience to talk to Lexi and hear about her thoughts, feelings, fears, and excitement for the big journey ahead of her. I’ve admired how open she has been while talking about what is holding her back and the things that scare her about being a missionary. She has taught me it is not only okay, but important to talk about your fears in life. I think that’s part of getting over them.

Lexi invited me and Mallory to go with her family to meet with the Stake President when she got set apart as a full time missionary. I was overwhelmed with feelings of love from Heavenly Father and our Savior. It was a testimony-builder to me that every person has a unique purpose and specific experiences we are supposed to have in this life. I am so happy for Lexi and the opportunity she is taking advantage of to serve a mission in Mexico. 

The night before she left, Mallory, Bailey and I stayed at Lexi’s house until two o’clock in the morning. Lexi didn’t even begin packing until midnight! But when I said my “goodbye,” it wasn’t even a sad or hard thing to do. She is going to have so much fun and learn so much over these next eighteen months, all I could do was be was excited for her.
