Lake Powell

Somehow this was my first time to Lake Powell. I’m still shocked I can drive here in a day. With pretty much all international travel being on hold this year, I’ve been happy to explore what’s around me more in my home state. And Arizona because Lake Powell straddles the two states. This felt like getting to see the pretty red rocks in Zion or Moab, but from a boat and I could jump in the water and cool off at any time. Also, the water here is warm enough for me to enjoy. And that says a lot.

Horse Shoe Bend^ I’ve seen so many pictures of it before I’m glad to see it in real life.

We went with Dave’s parents, Dave’s brother Daniel and his friend Marlee.

This is seriously Dave’s happy place. On a boat, in the water, looking at cool stuff.

It was kind of a last minute trip and unfortunately all of the houseboats were booked. So on the first day we rented jet skis and on the second and third day we cruised around on a little boat. Luckily Marlee knows a lot about boats because she grew up in Michigan on the lake. We were glad she could drive us around and tell us what to do.

Also, I had absolutely no idea Dave was good at wakeboarding. Now that I think about it, it doesn’t surprise me.

One of my favorite moments was watching the sunset from the boat. But also I’m a sucker for the blue and purple colors right after the sunset.
