Cardiff, Wales

Our day in Cardiff was one of my favorites because the UK was having their coronation celebration so there was quite the excitement in the air. We even stumbled upon a couple different festivals and celebrations. We spent our morning at Techniquest—a children’s museum (although we adults had fun too). Cort and Dave spent a long while trying to figure out a puzzle and unfortunately they were never able to solve it. I’m sure it will haunt them forever. We walked around the Bay area and then Simon took a nap on my lap while I sat on the bench and looked at the boats.

Simon’s first time experiencing a dandelion.

Then we visited Cardiff Castle where they were having a celebration with a live band on the castle grounds. We took a tour of the castle, walls and keep. It was very interesting to walk through the castle walls and learn they used it as a bomb shelter during WWII. We wanted to walk through the Castle Quarter Arcades, but it was closed when we got there:/

Had to include this one because Sime took it;)^

We spent the evening at Roald Dahl Plass where they were broadcasting the big coronation concert that was happening at Windsor Castle. It was quite the production. Some US names that performed/were involved were Katy Perry and Tom Cruise. It was fun being there with everybody. Simon was walking around with his hands in his pockets like a little teenager and making tons of strangers laugh. He was also running around with some bigger kids playing soccer and I think that was a highlight from the trip for him as he still talks about it. We enjoyed some ice cream and then walked back to our AirBnb to put Simon down for the night and we watched the rest of the concert live on our TV. We had a cute accommodation but it had a creepy little basement that Dave and Cort checked out, but I was too scared to look haha.

Good times in Cardiff!
