Years ago we made it a goal to visit one of Utah’s five National Parks together every summer. This was our fifth and last one! Dave and I had both hiked to Delicate Arch before, but never together and not with Simon. It was kind of an intense hike mostly because Dave was carrying Simon (without a carrier) and I was carrying our baby girl haha. But I also took my turns carrying Simon too. When we got to the top we wanted a break but it was really too dangerous to let Simon run around while we relaxed. We were on high alert to make sure he didn’t fall down anywhere. But it was still fun to let Simon see the arch because I had showed him pictures of it before.
On the way back down, we could tell Simon was super tired. It probably had to do with his lack of sleep while we were camping. He was trying to get comfy with his head on Dave’s shoulder but he just couldn’t. Eventually I took him and held him like a baby until he fell asleep and I had to carry him all the way back to the car like that. My arms and back were burning!
We managed to transfer him to his car seat while he was still sleeping. Then we drove to Balanced Rock and Dave and I took turns getting out of the car and checking it out while Sime slept in his carseat.
Almost 18 week belly^
Another nap in the car while we decided if it was worth it to get out in the rain and take some pictures at a pretty vantage point. We decided against it, then turned around and just went for it. It was closish to bedtime anyway so he really shouldn’t have been asleep yet. Simon wasn’t happy about it tho….
The next day we went to the Windows viewpoint before heading home. it was the most kid-friendly area we went to so it was fun for Simon to “hike” around by himself.
Now we need to figure out where we will go camping next summer… if we dare with two kids!
