Charleston | Part 2

We took Simon to meet the ocean for the first time at Folly Beach. When he walked in and looked down at the water receding past his legs he got a little off balance and was timid at first. But he warmed up (a little bit). I’m itching to take him back.

Finding sea shells and getting sandy. What’s not to love about that as a kid?

We also visited the Boone Hall Plantation. It’s very pretty but the history is not. We learned all about slavery and what it was like to be a slave living on this plantation. At Boone Hall the enslaved people made bricks. Many of the historic buildings in Charleston were built from bricks made here. Absolutely horrifying and so grateful our country has come a long way.

Peace out, Charleston!
