Winter Walks and Winter Thoughts

This has been the mildest winter pretty much ever, but ugh!.. I am dreaming of spring. However, Dave and I have been very good at getting outside this winter—something we hardly ever do. Our friends who go hiking in the winter inspired us to get out and do it too. I have to laugh though because they said the first time they went hiking in the winter they had dressed themselves in full-on snowboarding gear. They felt embarrassed getting passed by people on the trail in just a light coat and leggings haha. That totally would have been us if we hadn’t heard from them that is completely unnecessary. So for the first time in the winter we went hiking in the mountains and every Saturday since we have gone off on a hike or long walk somewhere. It feels so GOOD! I usually work up a sweat and shed some layers. I don’t know how I usually go hiking in the blazing heat..?

But, I really am craving spring. That first warm sunshine moment where you want to roll up your pant legs and bask in the sun on a blanket in the grass that hasn’t turned green yet☀️ Maybe I’m wanting it extra this year because I’m really crossing my fingers that by that time this whole pandemic thing will start feeling back to normal. I’m probably a little too hopeful, but a girl can dream.

I swear the only thing I do now is online shop for spring clothes. Mostly window shopping… JK I’ve bought a lot of things so far. Sorry Dave, I’ll return some. But it’s what is keeping me going. Usually I’m more of a solid or striped kinda person, but I’ll be wearing so much floral this spring! 🌺 🌸 And a lot of dresses!

But anyway these photos are from last Saturday’s walk where we were watching my in-law’s dog, Izzy. And these photos are a reminder to me every winter after this that even though it’s not warm, I can still get outside and enjoy the fresh, crisp, winter air.
