We made it happen! We’ve been craving another beachy, slow-paced vacation since our honeymoon and this was really satisfying. It was my first time to Hawaii and I since I’ve been to more countries than US states now, I was happy to visit one of America’s best states. Plus, it was awesome that we had cell service:)
We got in late the first night and went to bed at a reasonable hour to make sure we could be up for the sunrise. It is so magical to me when the sun is touching the edge of the water right at the horizon. I try my best to be there for it when I’m near a beach. I’ll probably talk about it again…
We stayed in Lahaina, Maui and went to Kaanapali Beach the first day. I’m only now remembering it was pretty windy so the sand was going everywhere (which is one of the most frustrating things ever!!). But the sun and the smell of the ocean must have overridden my memories for the better.
We took a little break from the beach in the middle of the day to walk around downtown Lahaina and explore some historical places. We fell in love with this huge Banyan Tree in Lahaina Banyan Court. It looks like a couple of different trees, but really it’s all one tree! We had to go back a little later to take more pictures of it.
During our little walk. Also, remembering that when it’s hot outside I get sluggish.
We made sure to be back at the beach during sunset and this batch of pictures is one of my favorites.
Lol. Idk why, but Dave and I keep laughing at this picture.^
We took so so many photos and videos here. Sometimes taking photos and videos while traveling can be stressful, but sometimes it’s so fun. This was one of those times were we were just snapping away and giggling and in this weird, giddy, fun mood. That’s probably why these photos are extra special to me.
We set up the camera on a rock and, honestly, it wasn’t a place to feel comfortable putting an expensive camera… and lens (did I mention we bought a nice, new lens? 70-200mm 2.8). This was me running towards it because it was falling.
Lots of good self timer fails. I can’t even count how many times my hat flew off this trip. Biggest eye rolls from Dave.
So yeah, like I said, we took a lot of photos.
