It feels like more often than not I’m posting on here months after the events actually happened. But it’s not because I’m forgetting, it’s because my life is so busy right now. I’ve been working a lot, but I would like to move my own photo/video/documenting projects more towards the top of my list. My life is really good right now and I still have the whole summer ahead of me, so hopefully I’ll be on here a lot in the next few months sharing fun things.
Anyway, in April Dave and I took the trip we have been dreaming of since we met. We had always talked about going to Spain and I guess I thought it would be sometime further in the future, but we really made it happen sooner than I imagined.
Dave has spent quite a bit of time in Spain on two separate occasions and got to know people out there. We were able to spend some time with them and it was cool to experience things other than the “touristy” stuff.
We started our two-week trip in Madrid. We took a train from there to Toledo, another train to Córdoba and then Seville, and finally flew to Morocco. I’ll write some more about our time in Cordoba and Seville and also Morocco, but for now I’ll focus on Madrid and Toledo (with so many photos!).
On our first day we went to el parque del buen retiro. When Dave would talk about wanting to show me around Spain, this was at the top of the list. So it was awesome to wander around the park, I just wish we could have spent more time there.
^Of course I got a photo of this. This one is unique, I’ve never seen children. 
We stayed with Sara and her boys the first night. Dave lived with them the second time he went to Spain. They were very generous for letting us stay there and feeding us!
The next day we explored the city with the family Dave lived with the first time he went to Spain.
I will mention that when we went to Mexico in February, I could pretty much understand every conversation that took place. However, in Spain I couldn’t understand ANYTHING! It was so frustrating. I think they have an accent that I am not used to and it was very disappointing to me because it felt like everything I learned went down the drain haha. 
TOLEDO! Toledo was the highlight of the trip for me. Our friend Raquel and her family live in Toledo and we spent quite a bit of time hanging out with her friends and family. Raquel was an awesome “tour guide.” She told me that the city of Toledo is older than Jesus! And it was known for being a city of harmony because for hundreds of years Muslims, Jews, and Christians lived there in peace. It’s cool to see how well they have preserved the city. 
Dave and Don Quixote. Although it’s a fictional book, people say Don Quixote was from Toledo. 
It was a very windy day. We tried taming our hair, but decided to embrace the craziness.

This is my favorite city I’ve ever traveled to so far. Yup. 
We had dinner with Raquel and her friends and afterward some of us took a short hike to a good lookout point of the city. Looking back at these pictures is giving me butterflies thinking I was actually there!
